OSCAR NIEMEYER

Oscar Niemeyer was a recent addition to the Cemusa team.  Cemusa regards the opportunity to partner with such a prestigious designer as a defining differentiator in its portfolio of structures.

 

Niemeyer can easily be described as one of the most significant architects of the twentieth century, due to his personality, his professional career, and his intellectual capital.

 

The Brazilian architect graduated from the University of Brazil in 1935. Niemeyer worked with Le Corbusier on innovative plans for the Ministry of Health & Education in Rio de Janeiro (1936). In 1939 he produced the Brazilian Stand at the World Expo in New York and in 1943 'la residencia Peixoto.' Throughout the 1950's Niemeyer was the official architect for public buildings in the city of Brasilia.  .

 

His work has a strong 'green' quality, as Niemeyer realizes the importance of adapting his buildings to fit in with their environmental surroundings in an unusual style.
